Bộ phim hoạt hình Up kể về một người bán bóng bay già, đã về hưu tên là Carl Fredricksen. Sau sự ra đi vĩnh viễn của Ellie, người vợ thân yêu nhất, người đàn ông 78 tuổi càng cảm thấy lạc lõng, đau khổ và cô đơn với cuộc sống xung quanh. Thay vì trở lại quê hương, ông già dũng cảm quyết tâm lên đường thực hiện một chuyến đi dài. Ông đã buộc hàng nghìn quả bóng vào mái nhà của mình để nâng cả ngôi nhà lên cao và khởi hành về phía nam, quyết tâm thực hiện một lời hứa với vợ từ nhiều năm trước. Trong chuyến đi, ông Carl gặp không ít khó khăn và thử thách từ một nhân vật "khác thường": cậu bé Russell, 8 tuổi – người luôn tự nhận mình là một nhà thám hiểm cuộc sống hoang dã lúc nào cũng lạc quan và yêu đời. Chặng hành trình của ông Carl Fredricksen và cậu bé Russell là một cuộc phiêu lưu đầy mạo hiểm nhưng cũng không ít những giây phút vui vẻ.
